JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
Our client is urgently looking for the qualified Mechanic Assistant to start working ASAP. VKB Group requires the services of reputable Mechanic Assistant. You may apply before deadline in case you are interested and have required qualifications as short-listed below.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant wishing to apply for this job must meet the following qualifications;
- Must have Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
- Having related scale/ mechanical courses done will be advantageous.
- Must have minimum 2 Years’ experience in a similar position in a Trucks Workshop.
- Must have Code 8 Driving License.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will have to implement the following duties but not limited to:
- To assist at the Workshop and during breakdowns with the following:
- To inspect and test external farm equipment parts.
- To repair the fault using existing parts where possible.
- To replace broken parts with new and reconditioned parts.
- To keep accurate records of faults identified and repairs done to farm equipment.
- To maintain records of all parts used for invoicing purposes.
- To conduct routine maintenance checks on farm equipment according to the relevant standard operating procedure.
- To perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and farm machinery.
- To examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
- Note wear patterns and make maintenance recommendations.
- To keep accurate and detailed records of preventative maintenance checks and repairs completed.
- To ensure all work is carried according to SHEQ and company standards.
- To ensure farm equipment safety procedures are followed to avoid damage to engine components.
- To operate hand tools and carry out all duties in a safe manner.
- To maintain equipment, protective clothing and work areas in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
